1978년에 결성된 혼성 7인조 그룹 뉴튼 패밀리는
발랄하면서도 애잔함을 들려주는 여성 보컬과
집시적인 쓸쓸함이 베어 나오는
헝가리인만이 가질 수 있는 독특한 사운드가 특징이다.
1960년대 말 월남전이 절정에 달하였을 때
월남전으로 인하여 헤어진 두 남녀의 슬픈 사랑을 그린 영화
"예스터데이" 의 사운드트랙에 가사를 삽입시켜 발표한
“Smile Again”으로 80년대 초에 인기그룹으로 떠올랐습니다.
히트곡 “Smile Again” 에 힘입은 그들은
1983년 데뷔앨범 ‘Newton Family’를 발표하여
세계적인 그룹으로 자리잡는데,
특히 당시 국내에서는 폭발적인 사랑을 받으며
이들의 인기는 최고를 달렸지요
